Have you already explored Europe and are looking for a new and exciting destination? Serbia emerges as a surprising destination for nature and adventure lovers who think they have seen it all.
It offers beautiful mountain landscapes, forests, lakes, and dramatic canyons, alongside fascinating human encounters, traditional villages, and good food.
In our seven years of jeep trips in the country, we continue to discover it again and again developing new routes, revealing unknown areas, and most importantly, getting to know the mountain people up close and turning them into friends.
The Surprising Serbia
Thus, we set out for one of the most beautiful days on our jeep journey in Serbia with breathtaking mountain landscapes, a challenging off-road drive, a view over the “Snake” canyon and the Uvac River, and at its peak the eagle reserve, which rarely disappoints.
Here, dozens and sometimes hundreds of eagles take off from the feeding station, spreading their wings for a spectacular aerial dance above the canyon.
On the way to Uvac Lake, there is another lake called the “Golden Lake,” thanks to the color of its waters at sunrise and sunset.
The fog rose above the water, creating a mystical view.
Autumn foliage reflected in the calm lake waters, and mist moved gently in the light breeze.
Why Serbia?
Serbia, formerly the center of Yugoslavia, is located at the crossroads between the Balkans and Western Europe.
The country boasts breathtaking nature reserves and villages that have remained as they were decades ago.
Its wild landscapes are complemented by fascinating encounters with its residents the Slavic mountain people.
The charm of Serbia lies in the fact that in many places, you can see how people live in harmony with their environment.
Residents do not try to change nature for convenience but adapt their lives to environmental conditions.
They enjoy what they have, love the different seasons, and know how to make the most of each one.
In spring and summer, the fields bloom with vibrant colors, and cherry and raspberry trees bear sweet fruit.
In autumn, the leaves turn vivid shades, and it is also the grape harvest season.
During this time, red peppers are harvested and made into one of the region’s traditional dishes Ajvar a pepper spread that is an essential part of Balkan cuisine.
